Episode 10 Krista Christou

As a Human Resources professional for close to 40 years, Krista’s career touched on virtually all aspects of HR. After working in the private sector in her early years, she went on to work at the Royal Ontario Museum, various ministries in the Ontario Public Service, and lastly, at George Brown College.
After obtaining a BA at the University of Toronto, Krista received a Human Resources Management Honours Diploma from Humber College and certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution in Mediation & Negotiation Skills from Conrad Grebel University College/University of Waterloo.
Throughout her employment, Krista managed her professional development by attending and leading numerous workshops, seminars and conferences. She was a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario from the mid-80s until her retirement in 2016.
Krista has a wide range of interests including fitness, cooking and baking, and crafts such as crocheting and colouring. She and her husband enjoy travel, having been to such countries as Cyprus, Germany, india, South Africa and St. Maarten. She can order a meal, book a hotel or shop in French, German and Greek (Cupriot dialect).

Susan Heximer’s forty-year career at George Brown College encompassed support staff, faculty, and administrative roles in mental health programming, access to post-secondary education, faculty training and development, and academic leadership. She led curriculum and program development for pre-programs and the General Arts and Science program and diversified general education and liberal studies electives with a focus on equity, inclusion, and sustainability. She supported organizational change, employee growth, and leadership development for several years through the planning and facilitation of annual retreats for faculty, support staff and academic leaders fostering engagement, connection, and alignment.
She is the recipient of awards to recognize her contributions to the College community, teaching and learning excellence, and team achievement, and the OCASA-CMU Outstanding Research Award.
In the early stages of retirement she has rediscovered her love of baking which is both a strength and a weakness.
